What is the role of District?A District is a group of Battalions that sit within the geographic boundaries assigned to the District by Boys' Brigade National Headquarters.
The role of a District within the Boys' Brigade is to promote the interests of the BB by organising activities for members; by the provision of support, training and opportunities for fellowship for Leaders; and by seeking opportunities for development of the BB to fulfil its Object better. In order to function, all Registered Leaders as set out within Brigade Regulations Clauses 6.1 & 6.2 and Young People as defined in Clause 60.1 from Companies within the District will form a District Council. The North of England District represents Companies within the areas of Cumbria, Durham, Northumberland, Tees Valley and Tyne & Wear. The District Council governs the Districts work within these areas, and annually elects Office Bearers who make up the District Executive. The District Executive are accountable to District Council for delivering the role as outlined above and they meet 4 times a year to review activities and progress the Districts business, but also once a year report to the District Council at the Annual General Meeting, generally held in July of each year. |
